From brewing your morning coffee to sharing a meal around the table, thoughtful design can make those moments feel easier, more comfortable, and more enjoyable.

    Our goal is to create spaces that truly support the way you live while making the process as smooth and stress-free as possible. We know that building or renovating a home can feel overwhelming at times, which is why we're here to guide you, answer your questions, and help you navigate every step along the way. We want the journey to be just as rewarding as the finished result.

From our first conversation to the final reveal, we aim to build genuine connections and foster community every step of the way.

  • We are Laura & Rodrigo, the couple behind Telar Design and Build. We are architects by training, builders by practice, and Philadelphians at heart.

    Our work brings together design, craftsmanship, and construction into one collaborative process, weaving multiple disciplines into homes that feel thoughtful, cohesive, and deeply personal. In Spanish, telar means “loom,” a reflection of how we work and the family foundation behind the studio, with the name formed from our family’s initials.

    With Argentine roots, we both studied architecture in Buenos Aires and began our careers designing and building homes, commercial spaces and restaurants. For more than fifteen years, we have been working in design and construction, shaping how we think about space, material, and detail.

    We moved to Brewerytown in 2020 and have spent the last several years falling in love with Philadelphia’s neighborhoods and rowhouses. We understand what makes these homes special, and how carefully they need to evolve to support modern life. That balance between preservation and functionality is at the core of our work.

    Today, Telar is a small team of four. We intentionally stay small so we can remain closely involved in every project from start to finish.

    This city is our home, where we are raising our children, and these projects are deeply personal to us. We hope they feel that way to you too.

Madison Hannum

Madison’s early career in the food service industry has helped shape her strong foundation in operations and people management. At Telar, she has grown beautifully into her role, expanding her skills in design and gaining hands-on experience on-site. She plays an integral part of the team, helping keep projects running smoothly while bringing warmth, curiosity, and dedication to her work.

Jean Pellot

Jean, the newest member of the team, joined Telar after building a strong foundation in construction and customer service. On-site, he works closely with Rodrigo, supporting construction, problem-solving, and project execution. His energy and ability to connect with clients and team members alike have made him a standout addition to the team.

General Construction Associate

An architect by training, Rodrigo is a driving force behind Telar. He brings creativity, ingenuity, and determination to every project. He has an incredible ability to bring creative solutions to complex challenges while keeping projects aligned with their goals and budgets. Shaped by his Argentine roots, he approaches design and construction with ingenuity and adaptability.

An architect by training, Laura is central to Telar’s creative vision. Her multicultural upbringing gives her a unique perspective, inspiring creative solutions to everyday challenges. Combining creativity, empathy, and attention to detail, she brings concepts to life from start to finish with care and intention.

We started this studio because we wanted to work differently — more people oriented than business oriented.
